St. George’s Middle School student Leo L. won widespread recognition for his chess prowess in the previous school year.
During the 2026 Louisiana State Scholastic Championship, presented by the Louisiana Chess Association, he competed in the K-12 division, beating all of the high school-aged contestants in the group to claim first place. With his win, Leo became a state champion, earning the right to represent Louisiana in the National Invitational Tournament of State Champions. We're looking forward to another year of excellent chess at StG!
