Independent schools are private schools, but there's a key difference: unlike typical private schools, independent schools are nonprofit organizations that set their own educational mission and philosophy and operate fully free from outside influences. Guidance on curriculum and school operations comes from an independent board of trustees, and financial support comes primarily through donations and student tuition.

The independent model allows St. George's to set and adhere to our values of compassion, integrity, perseverance and respect, and to incorporate curriculum that reflects these values. We partner with the National Association of Episcopal Schools (NAES), the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS) to ensure our programming and curriculum match the highest standards possible.
