It’s been a busy few months for the StG community, and the festivities continue to ramp up as we prepare for another wonderful Mardi Gras season. In just the second half of December into January, we’ve had tree decorating, visits from Santa, Kindergarten caroling, our much-beloved Lessons and Carols service and celebrated the start of a new year, filled with learning and joy. 

Third Grade and Pre-K4 students went to the Superdome for a close-up view of the unique architecture. Third graders took notes on the building’s structure for their Roman culture project, and Chive Room students learned about the Saints for their project on sports. 

Here’s some of the other educational trips our students have taken in the past few weeks:

For a Project Approach on ancient civilizations, sixth graders visited Tulane University’s Stone Center and Middle American Research Institute (MARI). StG parent and Tulane faculty member Dr. Cynthia Garza helped coordinate the visit. 

Sixth-eighth graders all experienced the work of the Bard during an excursion to the Tulane Shakespeare Festival. Students saw “Midsummer Night’s Dream,” during the annual literary festival. The trip was made possible through the generosity of Mrs. Caroline Nead and Mrs. Marie Cahn.

As the Mardi Gras season unfolds, we’ll have more visits to anticipate.  StG Kindergarteners have a planned site visit to the Rex den on Wednesday, Jan. 28. They will study this historic space and its parade memorabilia and photos for their Project Approach study of kings and queens. We can't wait to see where StG goes next!
