Special Funds and Awards

Due to the generosity of the St. George’s community, several special funds have been established to pay tribute to loved ones, while at the same time support important strategic initiatives of the school. These funds provide support for faculty professional development and retention, financial assistance to families, campus preservation and student scholarship awards.

If you would like to make a contribution to a specific fund, you may do so through our online donor form.

Endowment Fund

Founded in 1994, the St. George’s Endowment Fund was established with the purpose of serving and supporting the mission of and creating long-term sustainability for St. George's Episcopal School.  A portion of interest earned on the fund's principal is used annually to support campus operations and programs.  Your gift to the endowment creates a lasting stream of revenue for St. George’s.

The Fund for Faculty Excellence

St. George’s has established the Fund for Faculty Excellence to help support the ongoing education, training, academic enrichment and retention of faculty members. A lead gift from Mr. Burt Keenan has enabled St. George’s to enhance and expand efforts in this area. The fund provides the necessary support to further St. George’s mission of ensuring a quality academic experience for each child.

The Erin Grenon Memorial Fund

St. George's has established the Erin Grenon Memorial Fund in memory of our beloved faculty member. This fund serves two purposes:

  • An annual need-based scholarship for a member of the eighth grade class to attend the Washington, DC class trip.
  • A professional development fund that will enable the faculty to increase knowledge and experience outside of the classroom to benefit our school, students and families.

The Val Kehoe Resource Services Scholarship Fund

St. George’s is the pre-eminent leader in support services in the New Orleans community, and we are a model for schools nationwide. Our program was created by Val Kehoe and continually refined for more than 20 years based on her successful experience with hundreds of children. This scholarship fund offers financial assistance to families needing Resource Services.

The Lelong Family Fund and Betsey King Award

The Betsey King Award, established by the Lelong Family Fund, annually recognizes an outstanding member of the St. George’s faculty. This award honors Betsey King, founding head the school, as well as a dedicated teacher, fundraiser and supporter of St. George’s throughout its early history. This award is presented to a faculty member who is making a difference daily in lives of his or her students in the classroom and beyond.

The Arthur Carroll Waters, III Spirit Award

As part of the 40th Anniversary Campaign, Peter, Bonnie and Natalie Waters established the Arthur Carroll Waters, III Spirit Award Fund at St. George's. Arthur was a St. George's student from 1987-1997 and "a friend to all" with his gregarious nature and good sense of citizenship. In Arthur's memory, the Waters family has established this award to recognize a student who exhibits the spirit of St. George's. The award is presented annually to a deserving member of the rising eighth grade class and is a partial tuition scholarship.

The Eighth Grade Legacy Fund

The Eighth Grade Legacy Fund is a temporarily restricted fund that was established by the families of the Class of 2019. The Fund’s purpose is to support an initiative at St. George’s that captures the interest of the students and families of each year’s graduating class. The specific focus of the Fund is determined during the fall of each school year through the combined efforts of the Head of School, the eighth grade class, and the eighth grade class parents. The parents of the graduating class are solicited to garner the resources necessary to fund the chosen initiative.  At graduation each year, the Head of School announces how the raised funds will be used.
