Special Funds and Awards

The Annual Fund for St. George’s is the main way we ask parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty, staff and all friends of StG to support the mission of our school. Each year, annual fund gifts account for roughly 6.5% of our operating budget in order to bridge the gap between tuition and expenses of our day-to-day operations, which creates an opportunity to enhance the educational experience for all students at St. George’s. Founded in 1994, the St. George’s Endowment Fund was established with the purpose of serving and supporting the mission of and creating long-term sustainability for St. George's Episcopal School.  A portion of interest earned on the fund's principal is used annually to support campus operations and programs.  Your gift to the endowment creates a lasting stream of revenue for St. George’s. St. George’s has established the Fund for Faculty Excellence to help support the ongoing education, training, academic enrichment and retention of faculty members. A lead gift from Mr. Burt Keenan has enabled St. George’s to enhance and expand efforts in this area. St. George’s is the pre-eminent leader in support services in the New Orleans community, and we are a model for schools nationwide. Our program was created by Val Kehoe and continually refined for more than 20 years based on her successful experience with hundreds of children. This fund is used to support operations and programs within Resource Services. The Betsey King Award, established by the Lelong Family Fund, honors Betsey King, the first headmistress of St. George's and an extremely talented teacher and administrator for more than a decade in the early years of our school's history.  This award annually recognizes an outstanding member of the St. George’s faculty who is making a difference daily in lives of his or her students in the classroom and beyond.

As part of the 40th Anniversary Campaign, Peter, Bonnie and Natalie Waters established the Arthur Carroll Waters III Spirit Award Fund at St. George's. Arthur was a St. George's student from 1987-1997 and "a friend to all" with his gregarious nature and good sense of citizenship. In Arthur's memory, the Waters family has established this award to recognize a student who exhibits the spirit of St. George's. The award is presented annually to a deserving member of the rising eighth grade class and is a partial tuition scholarship. Scroll up to make a gift to the Waters Spirit Award Fund.

Capital giving helps St. George's find the transformation of our educational spaces, including small and large campus improvement projects and any potential opportunities for campus expansions. These gifts can be single or multi-year commitments that are used for significant campus improvements that fulfill the goals of our long-term strategic plan. 

The Capital Giving Fund also ensures that there is funding available for our year-to-year capital maintenance needs or unexpected needs that arise throughout the year.

One of our goals is to be financially accessible to the Greater New Orleans community, ensuring that those students and families that wish to be at StG can attend. Contributions of all sizes to St. George's Scholarship Fund are gratefully accepted. These funds are utilized in a variety of ways to strengthen our scholarship and tuition assistance opportunities to families. Our goal is to provide immediate financial support while also building our endowment to ensure our ability to support families in perpetuity. 

A named endowed scholarship starts at $50,000. A fully funded, named endowed scholarship, which would cover the full cost of tuition plus the gap (the difference of what a St. George's education costs versus what is charged for tuition) starts at $500,000.
