Special Funds & Awards

Founded in 1994, the St. George’s Endowment was established with the purpose of serving and supporting the mission of and creating long-term sustainability for St. George's Episcopal School.  A portion of interest earned on the fund's principal is used annually to support campus operations and programs.  Your gift to the endowment creates a lasting stream of revenue for St. George’s. St. George’s has established the Fund for Faculty Excellence to help support the ongoing education, training, academic enrichment and retention of faculty members. A lead gift from Mr. Burt Keenan has enabled St. George’s to enhance and expand efforts in this area. Capital giving helps St. George's fund the transformation of our educational spaces, including small and large campus improvement projects and any potential opportunities for campus expansions. These gifts can be single or multi-year commitments that are used for significant campus improvements that fulfill the goals of our long-term strategic plan.

The Eichberger Legacy Fund honors the legacy of Rob and Elaine Eichberger by ensuring that St. George’s continues to be an institution that is set apart from other schools in our region. When Rob and Elaine arrived at St. George’s in 1983, the landscape of school was vastly different. Over the course of their tenure, our campus expanded by seven additional buildings, the student body increased by more than 200 students, the faculty increased to a total of 101 members and St. George’s Endowment Fund reached $1 million. This growth has been strategic and purposeful, and through the Eichberger Legacy Fund, the school’s continued growth will remain intentional in its mission to our students and the children of New Orleans.

StG athletics and physical education (PE) classes teach about and provide sudents an opportunity to engage in a variety of sports, but, perhaps just as important, they also reinforce our core values, including perseverance and integrity, and develop and reinforce life skills like sportsmanship and collaboration. Gifts directed to the Athletics Department will ensure students have the most up-to-date equipment, new competition uniforms and opportunities to bond as teams. Gifts also allow St. George's to make improvements and repairs to our practice spaces as needed.

The Creative Arts Department at St. George’s encompasses visual and performing arts. Each class provides students with avenues for imaginative self-expression and creative opportunities. The department is committed to delivering process-based learning that supports critical thinking skills and development of the whole child.

Meeting students where they are and providing them the tools to learn best has long been a part of St. George's mission. Because the TAG Fund contributes to the learning and growth at St. George's that arises from diversity in all its dimensions of its student body and faculty, it enhances the St. George's community for generations of students to come.

One of our goals is to be financially accessible to the Greater New Orleans community, ensuring that those students and families that wish to be at StG can attend. Contributions of all sizes to St. George's Scholarship Fund are gratefully accepted. These funds are utilized in a variety of ways to strengthen our scholarship and tuition assistance opportunities to families. Our goal is to provide immediate financial support while also building our endowment to ensure our ability to support families in perpetuity. 

A named endowed scholarship starts at $50,000. A fully funded, named endowed scholarship, which would cover the full cost of tuition plus the gap (the difference of what a St. George's education costs versus what is charged for tuition) starts at $500,000.

The Betsey King Award, established by the Lelong Family Fund, honors Betsey King, the first headmistress of St. George's and an extremely talented teacher and administrator for more than a decade in the early years of our school's history.  This award annually recognizes an outstanding member of the St. George’s faculty who is making a difference daily in lives of his or her students in the classroom and beyond.

As part of the 40th Anniversary Campaign, Peter, Bonnie and Natalie Waters established the Arthur Carroll Waters III Spirit Award Fund at St. George's. Arthur was a St. George's student from 1987-1997 and "a friend to all" with his gregarious nature and good sense of citizenship. In Arthur's memory, the Waters family has established this award to recognize a student who exhibits the spirit of St. George's. The award is presented annually to a deserving member of the rising eighth grade class and is a partial tuition scholarship. Scroll up to make a gift to the Waters Spirit Award Fund.

The Helen Salinas Honoré Scholarships were established in 2019 by Dr. Cathy G. Honoré and her brother, Michael G. Honoré, in honor of their mother, Helen Salinas Honoré, grandmother of Jhanvi F. Honoré, St. George’s class of 2019. Helen was a life-long educator who valued family, faith, and service. She lived by the words, “I will never stop teaching, because there are always lessons to be learned.” The Helen Salinas Honoré Scholarships, partial tuition awards, are awarded each year to rising eighth grade students who exemplify kindness to all, a love of learning, especially of the world beyond the classroom walls, and spirituality, acknowledging that we are all connected to a greater purpose or power and should strive to be our best selves.
