Belonging at StG

St. George's mission is to grow curious minds into confident learners through expert academic attention and an unmatched sense of belonging.

Our school is guided by the core values of compassion, integrity, perseverance and respect. These values are the building blocks of a just and inclusive community—one where every student is known and seen, where differences as well as similarities are celebrated and where every learner has the support and opportunity to thrive.

What Is JEDI?

JEDI is an acronym for justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. At St. George’s Episcopal School, we believe that belonging is not a program or initiative—it is who we are.

  • Justice means making sure everyone is treated fairly, voices are valued and harm is repaired so that all members of our community can belong.
  • Equity is eliminating barriers that prevent access and opportunity.
  • Diversity is recognizing and celebrating our differences of race, ethnicity, religious belief and practice, gender, sexual orientation, family structure, physical ability and learning style.
  • Inclusion is embracing and celebrating these aforementioned differences.

We recognize that creating such an environment requires intentional effort and ongoing reflection. That includes recognizing and removing barriers to access and opportunity, amplifying diverse voices and experiences, and actively fostering a culture of empathy, respect and responsibility.

Justice at its best is love correcting everything that stands against love.Martin Luther King Jr.Quoted from "Where Do We Go From Here?"

Belonging at St. George’s is not about sameness—it is about shared humanity. We are stronger, wiser and more compassionate when we listen to one another, learn from one another and care for one another. We do this work not because it is easy, but because it is essential to the formation of curious minds into confident learners, and a community of hope and love that prepares our students not just for high school but the world.
