Discover St. George's Mission

Welcome to St. George’s Episcopal School!

Every child deserves to be seen for who they are and inspired toward who they can become—that’s the heart of St. George’s Episcopal School. Here, the knowledge that every child learns differently drives us to design educational experiences that meet students where they are so that they grow into their best selves.

As an accredited, co-educational independent school, St. George’s serves New Orleans children from eight weeks of age through 8th grade. We offer a highly personalized learning environment during the most formative years of a child’s development; we see the unique potential in every student and have the expertise to unlock it.

What indeed sets StG apart in the New Orleans independent school landscape is how we pair academic excellence with that personalized attention: no two students might take the same path, and yet each is prepared to thrive in high school and beyond. In small classes led by dedicated, expert teachers, our students build strong academic foundations while also developing perseverance, integrity, respect, and compassion—our core values. Just as important, they are part of a close-knit community where families and educators partner to ensure that children flourish both academically and personally, spiritually and emotionally.

I invite you to explore our website to discover what makes St. George’s so distinctive, and even more, to visit our campus to experience the warmth and magic of our community firsthand. Come see why you have to see StG!

Our Mission

St. George's Episcopal School grows curious minds into confident learners through expert academic attention and an unmatched sense of belonging.

Our Vision

We envision a vibrant community that celebrates every child’s talents and achievements and cultivates the confidence and character they need to seize success.

Our Core Values

St. George's core values of compassion, integrity, perseverance and respect were introduced in 2010—the effort led by then-Head of School Dr. Rob Eichberger and our Director of Counseling and Wellness, Tamara Claverie. Already rich in character education, the establishment of the values named what it means to be a St. George's citizen.

Weekly, we wear our blue core values t-shirts, and visitors to campus will note the emphasis on values throughout our classroom and community culture of belonging. Within the House System, points are awarded daily for demonstration of core values; they are the foundation for our civil discourse work; and in classrooms, "PIRC" posters and reminders decorate walls and bulletin boards. Even at a young age, our students understand and exemplify the values.

Learn more about each one and how they're introduced to students below:

  • Compassion— Compassion at StG means noticing others and being kind. We support a community where making mistakes and taking intellectual risks is encouraged and welcomed. Seeing each other builds empathy. We “call in” rather than "call out" during difficult conversations, fostering patience and self-reflection.
  • Integrity—Integrity at StG means doing what you know is right. St. George’s community members will advocate for themselves and others, using their voices to inform peers about their identities while being aware of harmful language and biases. Faculty will present diverse perspectives, avoiding the imposition of their beliefs to maintain the integrity of individual thought.
  • Perseverance—Perseverance at StG means we keep trying even when it’s hard. Our community will navigate challenging conversations, admitting uncertainties and learning from each other. We encourage students to critically analyze information and draw their own conclusions.
  • Respect—Respect at StG means knowing that everyone and everything is special. Everyone is entitled to expressive freedom and mutual respect. Discussions should focus on understanding rather than winning arguments. We aim for mutual understanding.
