StG Is an Ochsner Healthy School
At StG, we prioritize health and wellness for all students. To that end, St. George’s partners with the Ochsner Healthy Schools Program to ensure our students have access to all the health and wellness opportunities they need, including a full-time School Nurse, important screenings and more.

School Nurse Program

Through the Ochsner's School Nurse Program, St. George's highly-trained school nurse, Nina Weerapan Mazzulla, is available to students during the school year. Nurse Nina has more than a decade of experience as a pediatric nurse practitioner and has been our school nurse since 2022. A past StG parent, she understands our community and shares in our desire to prioritize compassion, wellness and health resources.
Additional benefits include:
- CPR training for staff
- Hearing and vision screenings for students
- Professional development
- Connections to community resources, including nutrition education, yoga and mindfulness, stress and anxiety management and more

Our Health Office
The goal of St. George’s Episcopal School’s Health Office is to protect and promote the health and development of our school community while striving to advance academic success. In recognizing the need for assistance and support for the health maintenance needs of the student body, the nurse at St. George’s bridges health care and education by collaborating with faculty, the Director of Counseling and Wellness and Division Directors in the coordination and advocacy of health resources to maintain balance in all health related aspects of student life.
Our health policies are grounded in the belief that children's safety and well-being are foundational to learning and growth.
St. George's Is a Nut-Free Campus
St. George’s Episcopal School is a nut-free campus. This policy applies year-round in all areas of the campus. Parents and guardians are asked not to send students to school with snacks or lunches that contain any peanuts, tree nuts or nut butters. Boucherie, our meal service provider, also supplies students with nut-free lunches. However, they are not a nut-free facility.
Students should always wash their hands before coming to school if foods containing nuts were consumed for breakfast. With parent and student cooperation, the campus will be as safe as possible for students with severe, life-threatening nut allergies.
We ask that parents do not send any snacks that contain peanuts or tree nuts for the entire class, special snack or parties. An ingredient label must be present on the snack. Homemade snacks are not permitted due to the sensitive nature of individual allergies-- even with an ingredient list.
